Pieter Faber
BA.Hon Biokineticists
Pieter Faber
Pieter acquired his Biokineticist degree in 2017 at the University of the Free State. Working with people and helping them improve their health and reach their goals is his absolute passion, whether it’s to returning to sprinting on
the athletic field or to climb stairs pain-free again. Nothing gives him greater joy in his field of sports injuries than assisting young and old athletes and rehabilitating them to get back to their sport.
Working with people
and helping them reach their goals is what Pieter loves about his career. He has a wide variety of interests, with his favourite being sport. With that said, he likes playing recreational rugby, action netball, cycling and any
other activity of like kind. His wife and daughter are the centres of his life, and spending time with them and his family gives him great joy. In the future, he would like to expand their practice to help more people in need of
rehabilitation and a biokineticist’s advice.
Ian de Jager
BA.Hon Biokineticists
Ian de Jager
Ian acquired his Biokineticist degree in 2017 at the University of the Free State He loves working with people and seeing them grow and develop. He also enjoys the entrepreneurial side of the practice, and he is still learning a lot
every day. He is passionate about orthopaedic injuries because he sees the progression the fastest. What gives him pleasure is seeing the improvement and witnessing the person also realizing that he is getting stronger every day.
He has a great love for the outdoors; anything from the mountains to the sea, hiking, rock climbing or any other open-air activity gives him great joy. He enjoys sports a lot and, on a recreational level, partakes in all sorts
of running, cycling, and swimming activities. With the future in mind, he would like to expand their practice and knowledge further to offer their patients even more care in their rehabilitation needs.
Pieter Faber and Ian de Jager are two energetic biokineticists. They met each other at the University of the Free State, during their 4-year study and after that did their internship together. Their private practice partnership, Faber & de Jager Biokineticists, was established in 2018 after finishing their internship together. They grew quickly in their practice and branched out to Brandwag in June 2018, only six months after they established their first practice, which was an important milestone in such a short time frame.
They have a passion for people and a desire to see them grow in all aspects of life. Pieter & Ian believe that God has guided them to love one another, and rehabilitating people with new, recurring, old injuries or just strengthening them to improve their activities of daily living is one of the tools they have been entrusted with to do so.
They have a special interest in Sport and Orthopaedic related injuries. Their motivation for becoming Biokineticists originated from their high school days, after a few sport injuries left them on the sidelines. They can relate with their patients and want to rehabilitate and assist with their road to recovery.
A big achievement in their career was when BASA (Biokinetics Association of South Africa) nominated them for an ASAIPA award (Alliance of South African Independent Practitioners Associations) for an app that they created to assist Biokineticists in 2021, which they won. Their app is named Rehabit.
As Biokineticists, Faber & De Jager are qualified to rehabilitate orthopaedic injuries and metabolic conditions and rehabilitate people/athletes to prevent injuries as far as possible from occurring. Relationships are very important at Faber & De Jager Biokineticsists, therefore, they are walking hand in hand with a variety of health professionals such as doctors, physiotherapists and dietitians, ensuring they have a holistic picture of their patients’ needs and according to that help get them to where they need to go. They are known for assisting all age groups ranging from children as young as seven years to adults; everyone is welcome.
Their Fichardt Park branch is well equipped for cardiovascular and Orthopaedic rehabilitation. It is managed by one of the partners, Pieter Faber.
Their Brandwag branch has the luxury of a 25-meter heated pool with Hydrotherapy equipment such as underwater treadmills and bicycles and a chair that lowers into and out of the pool for patients that may require it. It is managed by one of the partners, Ian de Jager.
